Vermilion Tide Shift

Vermilion Tide Shift is a bold abstract composition built in heavy impasto, with sweeping arcs of magenta and hot pink surging across the lower half beneath slashes of coral red and vermilion. A charcoal-black horizontal band anchors the middle of the canvas, while vertical strokes of cobalt blue and teal rise at the right like a cluster of masts against a warm ochre-orange and cream sky of thick, sculpted knife ridges.

Small staccato black marks punctuate the blue verticals, and soft cream and grey passages open the upper left, with a sliver of gold-ochre underpainting peeking through at the bottom edge. The asymmetric, diagonally weighted arrangement and richly textured surface make this a striking focal point for a living room, dining room, or office.
